How to Design Your Home Office

Did you know that working in a space that brings you joy will enhance your productivity? Getting out of the office and working from home is a treat to be enjoyed! Get away from the drab colors, the uncomfortable chair and the commotion from your teammates. Put some thought into creating an environment that reflects your personality and style. Be creative when assembling your office and don’t be afraid to do something a little different here. This isn’t your living room to entertain your guests, this is your personal office where you make a living!

When it comes to selecting the right color, don’t just follow the trends! Think outside of white, grey, and tan box and consider throwing some black, blue, or even green onto the walls! Painting the walls isn’t the only way you can bring color to your office. Consider painting the shelves, incorporating a rug with a fun pattern, or buying a statement piece such as a red desk chair.

When it comes to designing a room, a lot of people get intimidated over the thought of wall art. “What will I hang? Does this not go with my look? Where do I find the right pieces?”, are a lot of common questions that flow through people’s minds. Remember, this is your home and you’re in charge! While you can always visit an art gallery or a store, or order a piece from an artist online, working with a designer from Lawrence-Mayer will unlock a myriad of unique wall art and decor that you could not otherwise find in stores or online.

Don’t let your home office remind you of your dull corporate office. Add a touch of life by going green and adding in some plants. Don’t be shy, put some more! Hanging plants, desk plants, and potted plants are terrific ways to keep the motivation flowing. Studies show that planting, caring, or just being in a natural environment has proven to have a positive effect on people’s mental health.

Designing your home office should be an exciting experience. If you are feeling intimidated, consider contacting Lawrence-Mayer Interiors.
